Bil'in Celebrates Court Victory (September 2007)

04/09/2007 — Israeli High Court ruled that a 1,700 meter segment of the Wall near Bil’in must be dismantled and moved to an alternative route. The Court said Israel built this segment on land appropriated from Palestinians, arguing it was for security purposes when it was in fact to enable the expansion of a nearby settlement, Modi’in Ilit. The Wall currently cuts through 260 dunums of Bil’in lands, and traps another 1,600 dunums between the Wall and the Green Line. The Court decision enforcement is not in the Israeli Defence Ministry’s Work Plan for 2008, maybe it will in 2009?

Before the march, protesters had a chance to view a photo exhibition produced by ActiveStills illustrating the two years of resistance in Bil’in as well as some of the props used in various creative actions.
